In their ongoing transformation vision, the St. Edwards primary school alumni gathered for a remarkable celebration, marking their 160th Thanksgiving Service and an exciting march past, filled with nostalgia and pride. Alumni members, school administrators, pupils and parents gathered in huge numbers for the Thanksgiving Service at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church on Howe Street, Freetown on Sunday 11th May, 2025, and the March past process from the church premises, Siaka Steven Street, Pademba Road, Circular Road and Fort Street.

The chairman of the Alumni Association, Beresford Huges disclosed to this medium that the gathering is not just to celebrate Thanksgiving, but to reflect on the journey they all shared, and to look ahead with hope and gratitude.
Prior to the Thanksgiving and march past, on Saturday 10th May, 2025, the alumni, alongside current students and staff, embarked on a heartwarming “Back to School” procession, reconnecting with their roots and reliving fond memories of their formative years.
The service was marked by beautiful music, including hymns sung by a combined choir, the celebration culminated in the much anticipated march past, where current students and alumni took to the field in a spectacular display of school spirit, dressed in their school colors, both young and old paraded proudly.
The March Past wasn’t just a display of school pride but also a symbolic passing of the torch from one generation to the next. Alumni cheered on the younger pupils, offering encouragement and advice, while current pupils were eager to honour the legacy of those who had walked the same path before them.
With the success of this year’s Thanksgiving Service and March Past, plans are already underway for the transformation of St. Edwards’s primary school.
