NR for SLPP -Dr. Richard Conteh Urges Voters
In a bold statement that has sent ripples across the political landscape of Sierra Leone, Dr. Richard, a leading contender for the flagbearer position of the All People’s Congress (APC), has strongly criticized the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), urging the public to reject them at the polls in 2028.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Epic Radio, Dr. Richard argued that the SLPP should not be given another term in office, accusing them of failing the people on multiple fronts. According to him, the slogan of the SLPP calling for a continuation of governance is “insulting to the intelligence of Sierra Leoneans,” given what he described as their “woeful failure” in leadership, economic management, and national unity.
“The SLPP should be given an ‘NR’—No Re-election,” Dr. Richard declared passionately.
“They have failed the people of this country woefully, and now they have the audacity to say they want to continue governance? Continue, what? More economic hardship? More division? More failed promises?”Dr. Richard criticized the current administration for what he described as rampant unemployment, deteriorating healthcare, failing educational standards, and a lack of transparency in governance. He emphasized that the SLPP’s time in office has been marked by unmet expectations, widespread public dissatisfaction, and the erosion of trust between citizens and the state.
A Call for Accountability
Dr. Richard’s “No Re-election” campaign is gaining attention among grassroots supporters of the APC and beyond, as citizens grow increasingly frustrated with the status quo. He believes it is time for a new direction—one built on accountability, unity, and strategic leadership.
“This country is rich in resources, talent, and potential. What we lack is visionary leadership,” he said. “The people of Sierra Leone deserve better than recycled failures. The APC is ready to lead with purpose and deliver results.”
Rising APC Momentum
Dr. Richard is emerging as a front-runner within the APC’s internal race for its 2028 presidential candidate. His message appears to resonate with a broad spectrum of voters, especially the youth and professional class, who feel disillusioned by the SLPP government’s track record.
Political analysts note that the “NR” slogan may evolve into a powerful campaign message for the opposition party as it seeks to capitalize on growing dissatisfaction and position itself as the party of change.
The Road to 2028
As the political temperature rises ahead of the 2028 elections, Dr. Richard’s statements signal the start of what is likely to be a fiercely contested race for State House. While the SLPP continues to defend its governance record, claiming progress in infrastructure, energy, and digitization, critics like Dr. Richard argue that such achievements have failed to reach the average citizen.
Only time will tell how the electorate will respond, but one thing is clear: the battle lines have been drawn, and the call for accountability is growing louder.
