– Asserts APC Sec. Gen
In a bold and confident political statement, the Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC) has asserted that come the 2028 general elections, the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) will be voted out of office. This assertion, which is already sending ripples across Sierra Leone’s political landscape, is seen by many as a renewed signal of the APC’s growing momentum and determination to reclaim governance after what they describe as years of national hardship under the SLPP administration.

Speaking during a high-powered APC strategy session, the Secretary General emphasized that Sierra Leoneans are tired of what he called “the lies, failures, and broken promises” of the current regime. He noted that since the SLPP came to power, the country has experienced unprecedented economic hardship, rising unemployment, and a continuous decline in public trust.
“Our people are suffering. Youth unemployment is skyrocketing. Basic commodities are out of reach for the ordinary citizen. Governance has become a game of favoritism and empty speeches. The people are ready for change, and in 2028, that change will come through the APC,” he declared.
The APC Secretary General highlighted the party’s plans to roll out nationwide consultations, mobilization tours, and a detailed people-centered manifesto that will respond to the urgent needs of Sierra Leoneans. He also assured supporters that the APC is united, focused, and more than ever ready to take over power democratically and restore dignity to governance.

His statement has sparked heated debates on social media and within political circles, with many opposition supporters hailing it as timely and courageous. Meanwhile, SLPP loyalists have attempted to downplay the comment, calling it mere political talk.
But as 2028 draws closer, the mood among many citizens suggests growing discontent with the status quo. If elections were held today, some analysts say, the APC would be in a strong position to mount a serious challenge.
Whether the prophecy of the Lansana Dumbuya Esq will come true remains to be seen—but one thing is clear: the countdown to 2028 has officially begun, and the battle for State House is already heating up.
