S/Leone’s Ambassador to Guinea to be Investigated

At an emergency press conference convened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the ministry’s conference hall on Tower Hill, Freetown, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Musa Timothy Kabba disclosed to journalists that on 31st December, 2024, the Guinean authorities intercepted seven suitcases of suspected cocaine in one of Sierra Leone’s embassy utility vehicles.

He said the Guinean government officially contacted the Government of Sierra Leone on 13th January, 2025, adding that the Government of Guinea is currently investigating the matter. Minister Kabba informed the media that Sierra Leone has recalled its Ambassador to Guinea and the Head of Chancery for questioning.

He further explained that the Guinean authorities intercepted the Sierra Leone’s embassy utility vehicle with the driver and an unknown occupant in the vehicle and $US2,00ss0.

He assured the general public that there will be no political interference in the matter as the country’s image is at stake.

Timothy Kabba stressed that any of the suspect found culpable the law will take its full cause. He said the Government of Sierra Leone and the Guinean authorities and fully cooperating to investigate the matter.
