Investigations conducted by this medium has indicated that in the political landscape of Sierra Leone, the governance history between the incumbent Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the Main Opposition the All People’s Congress Party (APC) which consisted of the two main political parties distance themselves on the one hand and similar on the other as if they are twin parties.
Further investigation in the country’s ongoing protests by the citizens of Sierra Leone over President Bio’s intention to add more Councils, Chiefdoms and Districts stems from the suspicion that like former President Ernest Bai Koroma, President Bio is equally keen to leave his own legacy. They indicated that former President Ernest Bai Koroma divided the former Northern Province into North West and North East. He added former Port Loko District into a region which consists of Kambia and Karene Districts. He added Falaba and Karene as new Districts and equally increased the number of Chiefdoms to one hundred and ninety.
Investigations proved that the number of inhabitants in the North West is minimal as compared to the Western Area. The North West has four councils and lesser population as compared to the West. In President Bio’s tenure, he is contemplating in adding six chiefdoms and a council in the Western Area, citizens say with the exception of Biriwa among the local government criteria which has a replica of ethnic clash over the right to the chieftaincy. Citizens say the Executive powers vested in the Presidency being unquestionable would have been enough to question the legitimacy of protesters.
