APC Vows to Correct Past Mistakes
The Secretary-General of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, has declared the party’s determination to address past mistakes as they prepare for their 2026 national convention.
Speaking to supporters, Dumbuya emphasized that the APC is taking significant steps to strengthen the party’s internal structures and ensure a better outcome in future elections.
Reflecting on the party’s performance in the 2023 elections, he assured party members and supporters that lessons have been learned and that such errors will not be repeated in the lead-up to the crucial 2028 general elections.
“The APC is working tirelessly behind the scenes to resolve internal issues and ensure unity within the party. We are putting modalities in place to correct all past mistakes and strengthen our foundations for the future,” Dumbuya stated.
The APC, widely regarded as one of the largest and most influential political parties in Sierra Leone and across Africa, continues to enjoy substantial support nationwide. The Secretary-General called on all party members and supporters to maintain faith in the APC’s vision and mission.
“We need to come together and speak with one voice. Unity is our strength, and only through collective effort can we bring change to this country. The current administration under the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has failed the people. It is time for us to prepare to remove this rotten system and restore hope to Sierra Leoneans,” Dumbuya added.
As the APC strategizes for its 2026 convention, the party leadership has expressed a strong commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and accountability. These efforts aim to solidify the APC’s position as a formidable force in Sierra Leone’s political landscape and a credible alternative to the ruling SLPP.
The Secretary-General’s call for unity and action signals the APC’s resolve to rebuild its political machinery and regain the confidence of Sierra Leoneans. With its eyes firmly set on the 2028 elections, the APC aims to demonstrate that it is ready to lead the nation toward progress and prosperity.
