The District Chairman, Ahmed Saybom Kanu has led and engaged elected executive members of eight Constituencies chairmen to work with the Elder’s Council, promote peace, and national cohesion within the district.
The peace dialogue was held at his “Small Country Farm in Ronietta” Waterloo in Freetown. He maintained that there is no future without forgiveness.
According to Mr. Kanu, it is important to have discussions around peace with all executive members from Sections, Chiefdoms, Constituencies and District including stakeholders within the district to embrace peace.
He called on all to be peaceful and calm whenever there is any elections and appealed to all to embrace people like Mohamed Orman Bangura former Minister of Youth Affairs, Abu Mohamed Koroma (Korokoro) and others in the interest of the party.
The District Chairman also emphasized that the party’s interest supersedes all, while he continues to appeal to members to put aside their differences and allow peace to take a centre stage in the politics of Tonkolili.
However, out of ten elected executive members, Chairman Saybom emerged with eight Constituencies who are supporting him in the Chairman’s race.
He concluded by stressing his commitment to the Sierra Leone People’s Party and better understands it value as he is always ready to serve the party and the country at large.
The District Chairman further emphasized the need for party unity in the politics of the SLPP and learn to forgive and at the same time settle disputes at constituencies and district levels to avoid disconnect within members.
