Congo Town community stakeholders held a crucial meeting on December 1, 2024, at the Congo Town Playing Field to address grievances and tensions surrounding the ongoing construction of a recreational facility spearheaded by Hon. Alfred Thompson.

The meeting sought to clarify misunderstandings, resolve community conflicts, and pave the way for unity and development.

Chairman Hassan, a longtime resident of the area, emphasized the importance of community collaboration, stating that disunity has hindered progress in Congo Town. He commended Hon. Thompson as the first representative to take on such an ambitious project in the area and urged residents to take ownership of the initiative. Hassan further stressed the need to establish a dedicated Congo Town Community Committee to oversee the project’s development and ensure its success.

Hon. Alfred Thompson reassured attendees that the recreational facility was a project for the benefit of Congo Town residents, despite external pressures and political divisions. He called for unity, affirming his commitment to delivering on his promises and fostering development irrespective of regional or political differences.

The meeting concluded with a renewed call for peaceful engagement and collective effort to overcome challenges and advance the project. Further community sensitization meetings are planned to strengthen unity and ensure the project’s completion.
