What President Bio Cannot Do Does Not Exist
Supporters of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party have expressed the view that “what President Bio cannot do does not exist”. They maintained that amidst all the challenges, President Bio was busy campaigning vigorously for his second term, while the APC was caught in a web of intra-party wrangling, that they had little time to concentrate on their campaign, and this saw the First Gentle man making in-roads in the strongholds of the main opposition party.
According to some social commentators, while concern was about the economy, but the manifesto of President Bio made agriculture a priority, and this resonates well with people in rural communities, whose preoccupation is agriculture. Many believe that if President Bio could fulfil his promise of Free Quality Education, he will likewise fulfil his promise of feeding the nation through the development of agriculture, and this could have been the reason for the kind of votes he received from the provinces.
In the area of job creation, President Bio told the nation that he is going to provide some 500,000 jobs for the youths. Whilst his critics wondered how he is going to achieve this feat, President Bio told the nation that the establishment of the Industrial Economic Zone at Koya will be building various factories, which will provide employment for many youths, and it is not going to be the car wash system that his government had done. Against this backdrop, he had encouraged many youths to get skills training in the Tech Voc. institutes across the country that will make them marketable. Thus, since many youths know about the establishment of the Economic Zone, many believe that this promise can be achieved. It is against this background that they believe that whatever His Excellency puts his mind to do, he makes it happen, hence the description ‘Tok N Do’.
Judging by President Bio’s track record, many believe that he is a visionary leader, and has a vision for the development of the country. They believe that his second term will see much development in the country. What, they maintained, is an example of President Bio’s desire to unite the country, which he displayed when, in his acceptance speech, extended an olive branch to the opposition leader, Samura Kamara to forget about election, which is no0w behind us, and join him to develop the country and heal the wounds this division has created. It is up to the APC Leader to respond positively to the call for unity from the President.
