Sierra Leone’s main opposition the All People’s Congress Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo has reacted strongly to the removal of trial by jury in the Criminal Proceedings Act in the country.
According to Hon. Abdul Kargbo, he disclosed that main opposition voted against it, adding that they have urged President Bio to see reasons to return the amended Act back to Parliament.
“We, the APC MPs, believe that the removal of jury trial in the Criminal Proceedings Act is dangerous for our justice system. Regardless of the fact that we lost the vote against its removal, I beseech the President to return the Act to Parliament,” he stated.
