As APC Gears to Boot SLPP…

2028 Elections: “Fire for Fire”

As the 2028 general elections draw nearer, the political atmosphere in Sierra Leone is heating up, with both the All People’s Congress (APC) and the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) preparing for what many have described as a “fire-for-fire” contest.

The APC, now more determined than ever, has vowed to work as a united front to unseat the SLPP government, which they accuse of plunging the nation into economic hardship, poor governance, and widespread frustration among citizens.

Party officials and grassroots supporters across the country have been mobilizing, calling for total unity and commitment to what they describe as a “national rescue mission.”

According to several APC stalwarts, the people of Sierra Leone are “tired of this failed system” and are ready for change. They argue that the cost of living, youth unemployment, and the declining standard of public services have reached unbearable levels under the current administration.

Meanwhile, the SLPP has maintained that governance is not limited to a 10-year cycle, insisting that their party can continue leading the nation beyond a decade. They argue that their ongoing reforms, development projects, and digital transformation initiatives require more time to fully benefit the people.

However, public sentiment appears divided. Many Sierra Leoneans are expressing fatigue with the state of affairs, calling for renewed leadership, transparency, and accountability. Political observers say the upcoming elections will likely be one of the most fiercely contested in the country’s history — a true test of Sierra Leone’s democratic resilience.

As 2028 approaches, one thing is clear: both parties are preparing for an intense political showdown — a “fire-for-fire” battle that could redefine the country’s political future.
