Bombali Residents Cry Foul
Residents of Bombali district and the other three districts in the northeast region, have on several occasions have intensified calls on the authorities for the transfer of both the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police northeast region and the Bombali District Coordinator of the Office of National Security (ONS), Victor Monfred Williams and Josephine Miatta Saffa respectively.
It is reported that the two government officers together with the Senior District Officer (SDO) Charles Kailie have been allegedly meddling with many issues in the region which are glaringly seen as bullying and may ignite confusion in the region in a not-too-distance future.
At the Kabala Lorry Park last Wednesday, eye-witness say traders and Okada riders alike were in a very violent mood chatting the transfer of the three top state actors from Makeni following the seizure of several motors which in turn hampered the movement of traders in the city.
The raid on the Okada riders reports say, have slowed down business activities in the city of Makeni. Similar raids were carried out in other districts much to the disadvantage of many local residents.
Impeccable sources further disclosed that the aforesaid three officers are being accused of plotting the frustration of the Presiding Court Magistrate of the Makeni Court Holdings, Sheka P Kamara who could not try certain cases in the court due to the non-appearance of the litigants before him. Allegedly, for three consecutive times now our sources say, the alleged perpetrators of the bloody Mankneh village attack have refused to appear in court despite the “Bench warrant. The Junior Officers did not execute the warrant of order from the superior boss.
On many occasions, the defendants of Mankneh attack would go to the vicinity of the court on the date scheduled for hearing but will not appear before the magistrate and after discussing with the power that be, will return back home safe. The refusal of the police to effect the warrant have seriously frustrated Magistrate Kamara who at one occasion expressed his anger to the complainants.
The Mankneh attackers are in court for four count charges of attacking Makneh village at night and destroyed buildings including school, mosque, church and other properties, and defecated into the village water wells. “Since the perpetrators were charged to the Magistrate Court, they have never appeared in court and the “warrant of arrest” issued by the court was never effected by the police,” one of the complainants said.
