In a surprise visit to the Pademba Road Courts in Freetown on Monday, February 24, 2025, Honorable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda conducted an unannounced inspection to assess the state of the courts operations.

Upon arrival, Justice Kamanda personally inspected multiple courtrooms and chambers, ensuring that all magistrates and judicial staff were present and performing their duties. He expressed satisfaction, stating, “As a leader, it is important to get firsthand information how my team is working.”
During his visit, he emphasized his commitment to conducting similar inspections across all magistrate courts in Sierra Leone, including those in the provinces.

He stated that relying solely on second-hand reports was not enough, reaffirming his dedication to ensuring accountability in the judiciary.
However, his inspection also revealed key challenges, including frequent electricity blackouts and inadequate water facilities at the courts. Justice Kamanda reassured judicial staff that these issues would be addressed immediately.

Concluding his visit, he noted the high number of litigants present, interpreting it as a sign of public trust in the judiciary.
“People believe in the justice system, and we must work hard to maintain that trust,” he remarked.
With over 20 years in the judiciary, including a decade of service as a magistrate in Freetown and the provinces, Chief Justice Kamanda reaffirmed his commitment to improving court efficiency and ensuring access to justice for all.
