As He Declares for SLPP Dep. National Chairman…

Robert Kondema Kargbo Appeals for Votes

The political race for the SLPP executive positions is heating up and gaining more momentum as many aspirants have officially declared their intention to battle it out with their rival aspirants. Observers say some aspirants are still sitting on the fence whether to contest or not. Analysts say the 2025 SLPP delegates’ conference will determine the fate of all the aspirants, and Sierra Leoneans will know who is who.

The latest aspirant to vie for the SLPP National Deputy Chairman is no less a person than Robert Kondema Kargbo. His popularity among members and supporters of the SLPP will be evaluated at the party’s upcoming delegates’ conference.

In a declaration statement, Robert Kondema Kargbo said it is his strongest determination to provide an all-inclusive leadership that can benefit every member of the SLPP the party irrespective of who you support, different alignment some people operate, and which party group they belong. ‘’I have perspective of humility, love for the party, and above all, the desire to provide relevance to the party and to support the party achieve its manifesto goals and objectives against the 2028 Presidential and Parliamentary elections,’’ Robert Stated.

He maintained that since 2013, his entire political career has been associated with the SLPP party, adding that he is well recognized within the party both at home and across the diaspora. Kondema asserted that he is a committed member of the SLPP in good standing, beginning with his first attempt in the race for the position of Deputy Secretary General at the Party’s last National Delegate Convention held in Bo.

He assured that with his wealth of experience, unwavering dedication, and a deep passion for public service he will deliver as expected. Kondema recalled that in 2018, His Excellency the President, Rtd Brigadier Julius Maada Bio appointed him to the Board of NATCOM as the first youngest Commissioner since the establishment of the Commission in 2006. ‘’In this capacity, I demonstrated strong leadership, integrity, and a results-oriented approach to governance, and I am grateful to His Excellency the President for the opportunity given to me to serve and contribute to the governance of the State,’’ he said. ‘’Let me state that the President has a clear vision for the development of this country, and my team and I are ready to give him the fullest support,’’ Kondema declared.

He said his public service and contributions to national development can be exhibited through his work as Publisher of the Heritage Newspaper and Managing Director of Heritage Multimedia Group and CEO of Heritage Group of companies, through which he has championed the growth of Sierra Leone’s media and entertainment industries, created job opportunities for over 200 young Sierra Leoneans and providing philanthropic services and micro credit to several SLPP women across the country, noting that the testimony could be exhibited.

Kondema further pointed out to his contributions to the party in terms of mobilization, printing of President Bio’s T-shirts of high quality, and his footprints in the Western Area also played a pivotal role in the party winning seats in Freetown and Port Loko District, especially when these Districts were too critical to ensure their victory.

‘’In my quest to support young people, which I started a decade ago, it first culminated in the development of the first functional community Adult Literacy center where hundreds of Market women were trained in basic livelihood skills and advocating for gender justice and providing the platform for critical intervention in fighting for young people through justice and security networks,’’ he maintained.

He acknowledged that while many of their problems in the party are from the TOP-DOWN, the solutions are from the BOTTOM, UP and hence they must begin to build a consensus of like-minded, right-thinking people and get them into the system to fix it from within.

‘’Our party is at a critical phase of division and disunity, and our leadership must stand to accept and proffer likeable solutions before going into the 2028 Presidential elections. We must come to a consensus- an elite bargain that we will work together to put our party firmly towards growth and development. We must unite to fix our party’s internal problems and allow every party member to consider himself or herself worthy of belonging to a party that is in governance. I therefore offer myself in service to you the delegates and I hope you will trust me to deliver as your next Deputy National Chairman,’’ Kondema craved the indulgency of party supporters.

Kondema emphasized that he strongly believes that it is time to deliver on the core mandate of the SLPP party, foster unity, and amplify the voices of all members across every region. ‘’My vision is rooted in inclusiveness, transparency, and grassroots empowerment. Join Team RKK to build a more vibrant and invigorated SLPP that will revive the current dormant office of Deputy National Chairman into one that works for us, create jobs for the people, provide scholarships for our children, bring progress and prosperity for our supporters, and our beloved nation at large,’’ he said.

Kondema reiterated that he will serve with integrity, humility, diligence, and an unshakable commitment to their shared values, calling on delegates’ to vote for him during the 2025 delegates’ conference

‘’As we move forward—united in purpose, strong in spirit, and determined to lead,’’ Kondema concluded.
