As It Fires Warning Shot…

APC On The Political War Path

The All People’s Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning against any move that could drag Sierra Leone back into a one-party state. The main opposition party expressed serious concern over recent political developments which, according to them, appear to undermine the country’s hard-won democratic values and freedoms.

In a statement released to the media, the APC emphasized that Sierra Leone’s democracy was built through decades of struggle, sacrifice, and national dialogue — and any attempt to reverse those gains will be firmly resisted by the people.

Party officials pointed to what they described as growing intolerance of dissenting voices, shrinking political space, and unfair treatment of opposition figures, warning that such actions threaten national unity and stability.

“The APC stands for pluralism, fair competition, and respect for the rule of law. Sierra Leone belongs to all its citizens — not one political group,” the statement added.

The party called on international partners, civil society organizations, and democratic institutions to closely monitor the political climate and ensure that the nation continues to uphold the principles of multiparty democracy enshrined in the 1991 Constitution.

As tensions simmer, many Sierra Leoneans are watching closely to see how the government responds to the APC’s warning — and whether the country’s democracy can continue to thrive amid growing political pressure.
