Anxious Times For Ambassadors & Press Attaches

After the appointment of his cabinet and other positions, the next step is the appointment of Ambassadors and Press Attaches. There are indications that some top Ambassadors will be replaced, as well as Press Attaches, on grounds of non-performance.

According to sources close to the Presidency, His Excellency is determined to ensure that those he is going to appoint are result oriented and can deliver. Most of the current Ambassadors are said to be ineffective and have not made any considerable impact in their respective postings. The same thing was said about the Press Attaches, whom the First Lady had earlier decried as ineffective.

Our source further disclosed that the action taken by President Bio in removing a good number of his close associates, such as J.J Saffa, Prof. David Francis and others, is an indication that he might replicate same with the appointment of his Ambassadors and Press Attaches. As the list for these appointments continue to linger, former Ambassadors and their respective Attaches are now having sleepless night, with a lot of behind the scenes lobbying taking place.

For ruling party bloggers who have been on the sideline propagating the party’s international activities, their hopes are high to be considered for Press Attaches, especially as during the first term of the President, they had raised concerns over their status, claiming to have been ignored by the Presidency, whilst the current crop of Press Attaches were busy making money and doing sweet nothing to promote the government. Some names of have surfaced for the aforesaid positions, and this has added more anxiety among the incumbents. For some of them, their positions were made possible through the intervention of some of these now removed Ministers and officials.

For many in the party, the current appointments is an indication that the SLPP has taken over from the Paopa, and President Bio is determined to consolidate his position in the party and rectify the mistakes of his past administration.
