Al-Hamd in alleged Illegal Property Grabbing

Sierra Leoneans are seeking government intervention amid victimization over land dispute at Kissy Dock Yard, fisheries, a serious property grabbing allegations have surfaced involving a company called Al-Hamd own by an Indian national at Texaco, where community stakeholders were accused of unlawfully claiming ownership of a land and property located at Kissy Dock Yard, fisheries, in the eastern part of Freetown.

Sierra Leoneans are urgently calling on the Ministry of Lands and Country Planning to intervene in this land dispute what they describe as victimization by an Indian national at the fisheries, Kissy Dock Yard in Freetown.  The escalating tensions have sparked fears of potential violence as residents pleading for immediate government action to prevent loss of life.

According to reports from community stakeholders,  that the Indian national, whose identity remains undisclosed, is allegedly attempting to claim ownership of a plot of 1.9 acre of land that has long been occupied by Sierra Leoneans. The dispute has escalated in recent weeks, with accusations of intimidation, harassment and unlawful attempts to evict residents from the land. Community leaders and affected individuals have expressed growing concerns about the lack of response from local authorities. They are now calling on the Ministry of Lands and Country Planning to intervene before the situation goes out of control. 

In an exclusive interview with one of the aggrieved residents,  Rugiatu Kanu, chairlady under the Sierra Leone People’s party (SLPP)who also have two story building that was not completed, told this medium that they have suffered a lot to build those buildings with lots of financial expenditure.  Joseph B Kallon, a medical practitioner also told  this medium that his  efforts and years of services in medical service have gone in vain, adding that the company removed him without no compensation. ‘’We are simply demanding for justice and protection from the government.  This land has been our home for generations,  and we cannot allow anyone,  no matter their nationality to take it from us through force or intimidation, “said one local resident.   When the Communication Officer Desmond was contacted on 078210864, he said that the 1.9 acres of land belongs to the S.I Construction Company with legal document, adding that that the demolition should have commenced since the past four years, but the company applied for the said land at the Ministry of Land.
