Blackmail Plot Against DG Yakuba Backfires

A recent attempt to blackmail and discredit the hardworking Director General, Mr. Yakuba, has backfired woefully after investigations revealed that a social media post alleging a strike at Water Quay was completely false.

The widely circulated post, which began making rounds last Friday, claimed that workers at the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority had embarked on a strike action, allegedly due to poor working conditions and dissatisfaction with management. The post attempted to paint a picture of chaos and disruption within the institution—an effort that insiders now confirm was a deliberate act of sabotage aimed at undermining the credibility and leadership of DG Yakuba.

In a swift and candid response, Mr. Yakuba dismissed the claims as misleading and malicious propaganda. “There is absolutely no strike action at Water Quay. Operations have continued smoothly and without interruption,” he confirmed. “This is a calculated attempt to tarnish the reputation of not just myself, but the entire institution. It is disappointing that some individuals will stoop so low in their bid to sabotage progress.”

Under DG Yakuba’s leadership, the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority has made commendable strides in improving efficiency, enhancing security, and implementing digital systems that have significantly reduced turnaround times. His hands-on approach and dedication to transparency and reform have earned him both national and international recognition.

Sources close to the Ports Authority revealed that staff morale remains high and that there is no evidence of dissatisfaction that could warrant a strike. Many employees have instead expressed their support for the DG, noting the progress that has been made under his leadership.

Meanwhile, investigations are reportedly ongoing to trace the origin of the fake post and hold those responsible accountable for spreading misinformation with the intent to incite unrest and discredit public officials.

The public is being urged to remain vigilant and avoid sharing unverified information that can cause panic or damage reputations. DG Yakuba remains committed to serving the people of Sierra Leone with integrity, and he has vowed that such smear campaigns will not derail the transformative agenda currently underway at the Ports Authority.
