Bringing Smile on the Faces of Children

German Philanthropists and SHADE-SL holds an Amazing and Inspiring End of Year Party for Over 100 Children in Kambia.

German philanthropists like Astrid Friedrichs, Uta Lange, Christian Lange, Sandra Lange and Sabine Limberg in collaboration with SHADE-SL organized an annual party for over 100 children in Kambia, and this year’s event was hosted on Saturday, the 16th of December 2023. The party aims to provide a day of joy, celebration, and empowerment for the children, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Preparations for the party begin well in advance, with Alhaji Kolleh Yillah and Madam Christiana and team work tirelessly to ensure that every child who attends has a memorable experience. Several personalities were also in attendance to grace this remarkable and exciting annual celebration for children in Kambia District, Northwest Region Sierra Leone.

On the day of the party, the venue is transformed into a vibrant and festive space, adorned with colorful decorations and entertainment for children of all ages including disables. There is a lot of fun,  balloon art, music, and various other activities that keep the children engaged and excited throughout the day. Food and drinks are also provided, ensuring that every child has a nutritious meal to enjoy. The Yillah family and their German friends  believe that nourishing their bodies is just as important as uplifting their spirits and engaging their minds. The highlight of the party is the distribution of gifts. The Yillah family and their friends believe in the power of education to transform lives and usually provide every child with essential learning materials, such as books, pens, bags and above all, Christmas items like sweets, chocolates, drinks and many more. These items not only support their education but also serve as a tangible reminder that they are valued and deserving of every opportunity.

Additionally, the event gives the Yillah family, their partners and by extension SHADE-SL an opportunity to interact with the children, listen to their stories, and understand their needs better. It provides a platform for advocacy and an opportunity to identify specific areas where SHADE can offer further support and assistance. The annual party hosted by Mr and Mrs. Yillah in Kambia has become a highly anticipated event within the community. It not only brings joy and laughter to these vulnerable children but also reinforces the importance of education and empowers them to dream big and strive for a brighter future. Through their dedication and unwavering commitment, they continue to make a profound impact on the lives of children, youth, and women in Kambia, instilling hope, joy, and a sense of possibility in each and every one of them. They are highly committed to organizing such charitable events every year in December.
