The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in partnership with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), has launched a three-day Safe Stadium Initiative Workshop in Bo City to strengthen safety and security standards across football venues in Sierra Leone.
The training brings together Safety Officers from all 18 Premier League clubs ahead of the 2025–26 league season and forms part of CAF’s continental effort to promote a safe stadium culture and achieve zero incidents during football matches and related events. Sierra Leone is among 30 countries benefiting from this initiative, reflecting CAF’s confidence in the SLFA’s growing commitment to professional football management.
Coordinated locally by SLFA’s Safety and Security Manager, Mr. Mohamed Bowen Freeman, the workshop also engages key national stakeholders, including the Sierra Leone Police, Fire Department, Stadium Management, Ministry of Sports, the Office of National Security (ONS), and the National Sports Authority (NSA).
Facilitators Mr. Zackariyah Diabate from Côte d’Ivoire and Mr. Abdul Lukooya Sekabira from Uganda, both from CAF’s Safety and Security Department, are leading the sessions and sharing best practices with participants.
The SLFA continues to demonstrate strong leadership and collaboration with CAF and other partners in ensuring that football in Sierra Leone is played and enjoyed in a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
