“Thursday the 17th day of August 2023 ends the Honourable’s Initiative on Improved Teaching and Learning Program.”
The *Honourable Mohamed T Fofanah* was born and raised in Gbinle-dixon Chiefdom which is now Gbinleh and Dixon Chiefdoms after it’s de-amalgamation several years ago.
He attended the KDEC Primary School Dare-Salam and proceeded to the Kolenten Senior Secondary School Kambia and later to Freetown where he finished his high school before darkening the doors of a University.
As a was to pay back in the Educational sector in Gbinle-Dixon now Gbinleh and Dixon Chiefdoms he organised and sponsored a FREE SUMMER SCHOOL IN SIX PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN THE TWO CHIEFDOMS RESPECTIVELY (Holiday Classes for Classes 4, 5 and 6) in four weeks. The Summer School captured the majors schools in the two chiedoms with a plan to expand or extend to other Primary Schools next academic year.
The Aim of this great initiative is to improve the performance of pupils in public exams and to continue with the former flagship program of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone

On Thursday the 17th of August 2023 which marks the end of the four weeks Free Summer School, Mr. Sumah on behalf of his colleague teachers thank the Honourable for his laudable initiative and that it is the first time and Honourable Mohamed Fofanah being the first person to have ever organised and sponsored such a productive program in both chiefdoms. He ended up by appealing to the Honourable for sustainability and a continuation of the classes from 2:00pm to 4:00pm Monday’s to Friday’s for classes six when schools resume. He emphasized the impact created and how much it was appreciated by the pupils and their parents or guidance at home.
Mr. Kamara, Head Teacher RC Primary School Gbalamuya also extend his gratitude to the Honourable on behalf of his colleague Head Teachers. He expressed how they encouraged the teachers and parents to support the initiative for the betterment of their schools and improved performance of their pupils at public or external exams notably the NPSE.
The Honourable Member of Parliament for Kambia District Honourable Mohamed T Fofanah made it a priority to visit at least two schools at the end of the summer school to thank and appreciate the Head Teachers, Teachers and Parents for supporting his initiative for a better performance of pupils in the subsequent public exams as compared to the past. He thanked President Bio for the platform that he is building on and help in it’s sustainability.
In a nutshell, the pupils for whom the initiative was initiated showed happiness and joy for such an amazing opportunity for them to stay in school after the end of the academic year.
