The Conex Petroleum Group in Sierra Leone, has on Tuesday 21st June,2024, commissioned two (2) 15KT storage tanks at their Kissy depo terminal.
According to the Operations Manager of Conex, Mr. Vaibhav Poladia, he affirmed that they were at Conex Depo to commission two newly erected petroleum storage tanks. He added that these tanks are 24 Meter Height and it could be seen from a distance away, noting that they are committed to provide quality service to their customers. Mr. Poladia also reaffirmed that even though the road is rough but they are determined to reach their destination.
He maintained that it is not really easy to handle petroleum project but nevertheless it was successful without any casualties.
Moreover, according to the Managing Director of Conex Sierra Leone Limited, Mr. Carl asserted that this day is a very emotional day to each and every member that is wearing the blue shirt. Mr. carl added that they have a capacity of 11 Thousand tons of fuel and it would serve as landmark in the country.
Mr. Carl said that this project would not be possible without the support of the government and it would serve as a bench mark in the petroleum sector. He disclosed that Conex depot is the largest in the West Africa Region.
According to the Executive Director of PRA, Baluwa Koroma, in his statement noted that it was a great delight for him to witness such an important occasion.’’ I bring you hearty greetings from the Petroleum Agency’s located at the British Council Building. May I hasten to offer our congratulations to the management and team of Conex Energy SL Limited led by Mr. Avrajit Kar for this massive investment in Sierra Leone.
I am particularly pleased to welcome the Honorable Minister of Trade and Industry who has consented to commission these petroleum tanks today,’’ the PRA boss stated, ‘’Alongside the great vision of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio to transform the downstream petroleum sector, our end to end approach to identify primary business drivers and focus areas have always been the cornerstone of our activities and we are proud to have surmounted so many barriers on our way while delivering higher performance. We therefore dedicate the milestone to the presidency.’’
He added that no industry could be compared with the petroleum industry in terms of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. ‘’No industry faces the same combination of risks, but again, no industry offers to do such great things and for so many people as the petroleum industry.
Our goals are to transform Sierra Leone into a hub for the Mano River Basin and further reach out to the ECOWAS market,’’ Baluwa affirmed.
He concluded by appealing to all industry leaders to work together in addressing long term policy questions on service delivery, economic stability and job creations for our youths
