WASCE Results May Not be Released Soon

The continuous delays by the Sierra Leone government to pay the 30% ratio negotiated with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) after the Examination papers have been marked and before release if not address immediately has the tendency to delay admissions to Universities, Colleges and SSS1 for the 2025 academic years.
Confirm sources say, the 100% agreement between the government and WAEC is that before the commencement of the examination, the government must pay 50% of the total sum, before the release of results, the government is equally committed to pay 30%, the remaining 20% is left for the following year. Sources say the government has paid the first 50% but still neglect to the 300% quota as negotiated no word has so far come from government authorities.
Universities and schools admission officers say this has a great repercussion to the Universities and schools calendar. University authorities say it has already affected their reopening. They revealed that the delay to publish the results will affect certificate, Diploma and 1st year students. They fear that the BECE results if follow suit will equally reverse the school curriculum to January 2026 like previous times. However, Academics and Principals say the delay will not effect previous students who pass their examination from certificate to diploma and from SSS1 – SSSII.
