Director of Communications at the Judiciary Mr Elkass Sannoh’s Professionalism Under Public Scrutiny

Many are questioning his credentials and professional competence, given his controversial past in public service. Critics argue that such an important position, which requires credibility, integrity and a deep understanding of judicial processes, should be occupied by someone with a clean track record and proven expertise. Instead the Judiciary’s communications wing now faces questions of trust and transparency under his leadership. Public scrutiny stems largely from Elkass Sannoh’s previous tenure as the Director of Communication at the Ministry of Youth Affairs (MOYA). During that period, it is alleged that he was dismissed by the then Minister of Youth, Mohamed Orman Bangura, on grounds of incompetence and poor performance. That dismissal was viewed by many as a disgraceful episode, casting doubt on his ability to handle sensitive communication roles. His return to another strategic government office, despite this blemished history, has intensified debates about accountability and the recycling of underperforming officials within state institutions. Mr. Sannoh is alleged to be interfering in several legal matters within the Judiciary sector. It is claimed that he is leveraging his close ties with the Chief Justice to exert undue influence, an action that critics say undermines the independence of the Judiciary.

The public is calling on Mr Elkass Sannoh to tender his academic credentials. If these allegations are true, they not only raise ethical questions about his conduct but also risk eroding public confidence in the justice system. Many observers believe that the Judiciary, as the guardian of law and fairness, must ensure that its officials uphold the highest standards of professionalism and remain free from questionable influences.
