In a reaffirmation of trust, leadership, and visionary financial stewardship, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has re-appointed Dr. Ekundayo Walton Gilpin as the Managing Director of Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB) Limited, marking yet another chapter in a transformative journey that began years ago when Dr. Gilpin first assumed the mantle of leadership at the bank.

Receiving the re-appointment letter with humility and grace, Dr. Gilpin expressed heartfelt gratitude to Almighty God for continued blessings, wisdom, and strength throughout his leadership tenure. In his emotional response, he extended profound appreciation to President Bio for the unwavering trust and confidence reposed in him, stating: “This re-appointment is not just a call to continue, but a challenge to do even more for our beloved nation and the banking sector.”
Dr. Gilpin has been widely celebrated for repositioning Rokel Commercial Bank as a pillar of financial stability and innovation. Under his stewardship, the bank has witnessed technological modernization, regional integration strategies, and a people-centered approach to banking.
Speaking on his renewed vision, Dr. Gilpin assured both the President and the people of Sierra Leone that he and his team will redouble their efforts to put Sierra Leone on the financial map, not only within the nation but across the sub-regional ECOWAS landscape.
“We aim to modernize banking and bring financial services closer to every Sierra Leonean,” he assured, noting further that: “Banking must be inclusive, responsive, and empowering.” Dr. Gilpin further advised the public to verify financial information and avoid the traps of misinformation, stressing the importance of accurate public engagement.
“Our doors are always open widely,” he said. “Come and ask about things you seek clarity on. We are always ready to receive feedback from the people we serve.”
This re-appointment is not only a testament to Dr. Gilpin’s outstanding leadership and transformative agenda at RCB, but also a strong signal of the government’s commitment to financial excellence, transparency, and progressive public-private partnerships in Sierra Leone.
Congratulations, Dr. Ekundayo Gilpin.
