PPRC, ECSL & ONS Urged to Uphold Neutrality

As Sierra Leone looks ahead to the 2028 general elections, one message continues to echo loudly across the nation: peace must be our priority. For this to become a reality, the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), and the Office of National Security (ONS) must demonstrate unwavering neutrality, professionalism, and fairness in every stage of the electoral process.
A peaceful election is built on trust—trust that institutions act impartially, trust that political actors are treated equally, and trust that the voice of every citizen is respected. The PPRC must ensure that political parties operate within the law and that no group is unduly favored. The ECSL, as the backbone of the voting process, must conduct voter registration, logistics, tallying, and results management with maximum transparency. Meanwhile, the ONS must guarantee national security without leaning towards any political interest.
Sierra Leoneans deserve an election where the rules are clear, institutions are respected, and every stakeholder feels protected. Upholding neutrality is more than a responsibility—it is a national duty. As 2028 approaches, the collaborative integrity of these three institutions will determine whether the nation moves forward in unity, stability, and democratic maturity.
A peaceful election is possible. But only if PPRC, ECSL, and ONS stand firm as impartial guardians of democracy.
