Agriculture is the number one priority of President Julius Maada, who wants to see every Sierra Leonean capable of putting food on his table.
One of the stakeholders that has taken the lead in the president’s flagship programme Feed Salone is the Regent Chief, Alahaji K Jawara in Falaba District, Mongo Chiefdom, north-eastern part of Sierra Leone.
In a brief interview with this medium, the Regent Chief Alahaji K Jawara at one of his farms inside Mongo Chiefdom, Falaba District displayed his eagerness to support the president’s call to grow more food for the people of Sierra Leone.
He said he has seven farms; the smallest of which is two hundred acres. He maintained that with the firm support of the president and the ministry in collaboration with local and international bodies, he wants to do more farming especially in the area of rice cultivation which is the staple food in Sierra Leone, as Falaba is a fertile land for rice production.
He called on other authorities in other chiefdoms and districts to participate in the Feed Salone programed of President Julius Maada Bio so that every Sierra Leonean would not go to bed hungry.
