An opinion poll for the best candidate for the flag bearer of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) involving a total of 1,010 registered SLPP delegates was conducted between August 1st and October 20th, 2025.
The sample was designed to reflect the geographic and demographic diversity of the party’s delegate base.
Data Collection Method: To ensure broad and secure participation, multiple contact methods were used:
· Phone Calls (60%): The primary method, allowing for verbal confirmation and clarification.
· WhatsApp Messaging (25%): Used for delegates within Sierra Leone and the diaspora for convenience.
· Email (15%): Primarily for diaspora delegates with formal contact details on file.
A strict non-disclosure policy was enforced. The identities of the delegates and their specific choices were anonymised at the point of collection.
Respondents were assured that their responses were confidential and would only be used for aggregated statistical analysis.
Questionnaire Sample:
The survey asked two primary questions:
1. “Considering the current landscape, who is your preferred candidate for the SLPP 2028 Presidential Flagbearer?”
2. “What is the most important quality you are looking for in a flagbearer? (e.g., Track Record, Party Loyalty, Vision, Electability)”
The results were as follows:
· Dr. Fatima Maada Bio – 332 delegates, representing 32.9%.
· Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella – 144 delegates, representing 14.3%.
· Dr. David Moinina Sengeh – 116 delegates, representing 11.5%.
· Dr. Sidie Mohammed Tunis – 98 delegates, representing 9.7%.
· Dr. Alie Kabba – 81 delegates, representing 8.0%.
· Mohammed M. Massaquoi – 63 delegates, representing 6.2%.
· Dr. Mohammed Juldeh Jalloh – 62 delegates, representing 6.1%.
· Commissioner Francis Ben Kefalla – 35 delegates, representing 3.5%.
· Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai – 35 delegates, representing 3.5%.
· Alhaji Timothy Kabba – 23 delegates, representing 2.3%.
· Hon. Musa Tarawally – 21 delegates, representing 2.1%.
