By Mohamed Kamara
Concern citizens of all cradle have reacted vehemently following a picture posted on Social media which portrays Hon. Mohamed Bangura representing the Main Opposition All People’s Congress (APC) in Parliament wearing a T-shirt with a Banner which reads “Presidential Candidate PDP (Sobeh) for the 2028 multitier elections.

Citizens say this is not the first time that the Honorable has publicly showed his intention to contest for the Presidency on behalf of the PDP party. They saw it is constitutionally prohibited for any member of any given political party while serving on behalf of that party to pronounce membership or any other form of allegiance to any other political party without resigning from his party. They affirm that the APC failure to expel Hon. Mohamed Bangura from Parliament for disloyal behavior has indicated that the APC party is not constitutionally binding and has caused shame to the party and executives both local and international circles.
Alhaji Ben Kamara, the Secretary General of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Sobeh says Hon. Mohamed Bangura support to the party’s earlier claims that the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) is supportive of Hon. Mohamed Bangura’s fearless behavior to disrespect its constitution. He said since the post 2012 elections when the case against it former Chairman Late Prince Coker over allegations of misappropriation of party funds was investigated by the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC). Princes Coker pleaded guilty and paid back the money to the PDP’s Bank Account.
The Secretary General furthered that the PDP wrote a letter to PPRC and copied to Prince Coker informing them that the outcome of the ACC investigation in which Prince Coker pleaded guilty is in contravention of the party’s Constitution and that his dishonest behavior has no further remedy for his continues membership to party and therefore was expelled. Ben said the PPRC ignored the party’s decision and turned out to give maximum support to Prince Coker. He said they facilitated his appointment as Chairman of the All Political Parties Association (APPA). They fabricated and included members recommended by Prince Coker but have never registered with the party to hold parallel positions. He said all correspondence directed to the legitimate PDP party were given to the parallel members recognized by them. He said there has never been a party in Sierra Leone that has suffered humiliation from PPRC where over thirty meetings held with various Commissioners without solutions like the PDP.
The Secretary General said the Judiciary has given directive to the PPRC to solve the situation amicably by given support were merit is due constitutionally but they refused. He said they have also addressed their concerns to the Diplomatic Corps. He said the party members are prepared to frustrate any moves by Hon. Mohamed Bangura to represent their party in any given election as he is not a registered member and cannot be allowed as if he is above the rule of law.
