For a Successful Civic Festival…

Citizens Hail Info. Minister

The first ever civic festival in Sierra Leone which was organized by the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Hon. Chernor Bah popularly known as Cee Bah in collaboration other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) has been hailed by citizens across the country for its successful outcomes and conclusion. The event commenced on the 11th November and came to a close on the 12th November, 2024.

Sierra Leoneans and foreign nationals say the event was timely and impactful in nature. They said the event was a vital platform for fostering national dialogue, enhancing civic responsibility, and promoting cultural unity.

Held in a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, the festival featured panel discussions, workshops, cultural displays, and performances, all aimed at deepening public understanding of civic duties and the importance of active participation in nation-building. Attendees noted the festival’s role in bridging the gaps between government institutions and the public, fostering transparency, and encouraging citizens to engage with policy makers and openly discuss issues affecting their lives.

The Information Minister, who spearheaded the initiative, was commended for the vision and leadership displayed in organizing the event. Many participants expressed hope that such festivals would become an annual tradition, reinforcing the shared values of democracy, accountability, and community cohesion in Sierra Leone.

The success of the festival underscores the Ministry’s commitment to promoting civic education as a cornerstone of sustainable national development.

However, some people are suggesting that such event should not be limited in Freetown but replicated in regional cities like Bo, Makeni and Kenema.
