For Alleged Fraudulent Election…

SLPP Chairman Resigns

Following the resignation of Chairman Vandi Alieu Mansaray, the SLPP Holland Chapter experienced one of the most chaotic elections in its history.

Everyone in the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) understands that the party is built on the principles of democracy, which provides equal opportunities for all. However, in the recent SLPP Holland chapter elections, this principle was not upheld. The election was characterized as one of the most fraudulent in the history of the Sierra Leone People’s Party’s diaspora community. The current illegal chairman, Peter Komba Mosoray, reportedly spent over €2,000 to bring individuals who were not even members of the SLPP to bolster his chances.

On Election Day, there were incidents of people paying to vote, and Madam Theresa Saffa was elected as Deputy Chairperson despite not being present in Holland. The Public Relations Officer (PRO) was also elected in absentia, meaning that many members who participated that day were not physically present in the hall for the election.

According to the SLPP constitution, the outgoing chairman is required to be present to hand over the secretariat to the incoming executive, which did not happen in this case. Up until Election Day, the alleged illegal chairman was not an official member of the party, and per the party’s constitution, a member must have been in the party for three years before contesting for any position.

Additionally, many of those who voted on that day were not SLPP members. Other candidates, such as Mr. Boima Davies, raised concerns about the integrity of the election. However, their concerns were disregarded by a group that had already made up their minds to conduct the illegal and fraudulent election. The outgoing chairman, Mr. Vandi Alieu Mansaray, also shared similar concerns, which were ignored.

As a party with a history of upholding democracy and transparency, the majority of members of the SLPP Holland Branch are calling on the National Leader, the Deputy National Leader, the National Secretary General, and the PPRC Chairman to address their complaints by conducting a new election.
