Man Committed to High Court

Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon of Pademba Road Court No. 3 has committed Sahr Emmanuel Borbor to the High Court for trial on charges of Arson.
The accused was arrested and charged on February 14, 2025, with the offence of Arson, contrary to Section 3 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861. According to the particulars of the offence, Sahr Emmanuel Borbor, on Wednesday, November 9, 2024, at No. 21 Vincent Drive, Second Hill, Kallon Drive, Spur Loop, Wilberforce in Freetown, allegedly set fire to two dwelling houses belonging to one Osman Sama Banya, with the intent to destroy property.
During the preliminary hearing, Prosecutor Kamara brought forward four witnesses, including the complainant, two factual witnesses, and the investigating police officer. In her ruling, Magistrate Kallon stated, “I am satisfied with the evidence presented by the prosecution, and the accused has been cross-examined. Therefore, I hereby commit this matter to the High Court for trial.” Borbor has been remanded in custody until his appearance before the High Court.
