Chief Minister Applauds Sierra Leone’s Robotics Team

10th, December 2025 – Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, has commended Sierra Leone’s national robotics team for their participation in the First Global Robotics Competition in Panama, held under the theme “Eco Equilibrium.” Speaking on behalf of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, the Chief Minister said the government is “very proud” of the team and remains committed to supporting young innovators.

He congratulated the students and acknowledged the regular updates shared by the Chair and Deputy Chair throughout the competition.

Team mentor Susan Kargbo presented the delegation’s report and certificates from the event organizers. She highlighted that while the team did not return with the top trophy, their overall performance was remarkable and satisfactory, adding that the experience has prepared them for even greater achievements in the future.

Participants shared their reflections. Khadija Mabel Tarawally said she joined robotics to become an innovator capable of helping solve real-world problems. Abdulai Konneh described how the team built and programmed their robot, stressing the importance of constructing a solid base and accurate coding for the robot to perform its functions.

Dr. David Moinina Sengeh emphasized that investment in robotics, STEM education, and youth innovation directly support President Bio’s Big Five Game Changers, especially Human Capital Development, Youth Empowerment, and Technology-Driven Growth.

He reaffirmed government’s commitment to creating more opportunities for young people to innovate and contribute to Sierra Leone’s development.
