Shocking information reaching this medium has indicated that Councilor Mustapha Kamara representing the ruling SLPP party in Freetown at Lumley Bonga Town Western Area Urban nearly kill one Montana Johnson, a party agent of the main opposition APC party in the just concluded June 24 election.
According to the National Publicity Secretary of the main opposition APC party, Mr. Yayah Tunis has disclosed that the Councilor representing the ruling SLPP party has taken the laws into his hands by using the police and thugs to violate the rights of their polling agent that was sent to Lumley to observe the just concluded election.
Mr. Tunis told this medium that, Montana Johnson became a subject of tortured under the hands of the elected Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Councilor, in that ward as a result of his stance during the election at his polling station to prevent Councilor Mustapha and his cohorts from rigging the election at his station.
He alleged that this irritated Councilor Mustapha Kamara, went and hired thugs from the province to physically assault Montana Johnson after the election ended in his favor. Montana Johnson resident was ransacked by thugs and his relatives were seriously beaten by the thugs and valuable properties were taken away by the thugs.
According to the All Peoples Congress Party (APC) spokesman Mr. Tunis said that, they have made several complaints to Sierra Leone police about the attitude of Councilor Mustapha Kamara towards Montana Johnson, adding that their complaints were not treated with the urgency its deserves.
He further sate that as a party, they cannot take the laws into their hands and therefore they have called their members to stay calm.
He disclosed that since the police issue out a bench warrant for Montana Johnson declaring him wanted and as a party they are worried about Montana Johnson safety.
One Santigie Koroma, a friend of Montana Johnson raised serious allegations of human rights violations and security threat under which the elected Councilor subjected the main opposition Polling Agent, Montana Johnson.
He confirmed that Montana Johnson was incarcerated by the police during the day of the election for merely asking question that he considered far below the rules of the electioneering process set out by the National Electoral Commission.
He went on to say that members of the police were receiving directive instructions from Councilor Mustapha Kamara and other representatives of the ruling SLPP party to get rid of Montana Johnson who was acting based on the rules set out for the conduct of the election.
” For me it is not right to suppress the main opposition members and supporters to win election at all cost,” he said, adding that the last time he saw Montana Johnson was the day thugs went to his house and beat him together with some relatives and since then he did not set eyes on him and he expressed fear that he might have been killed by the thugs hired by Councilor Mustapha Kamara.
Reaching out to Councilor Mustapha Kamara, he told this medium that during the election, Montana Johnson openly challenged him, adding that he equally paid him in his own coin. He said that he is fearless and that he threatens that anyone stands in his way will be severely dealt with.
The Spokesman of the Sierra Leone Police, Superintendent Brima Kamara has confirmed to this medium that they have declared Montana Johnson wanted but have refused to comment on the basis of their declaration and have threatened that anyone caught assisting Montana Johnson with food or any accommodation will be severely dealt with.
