The All People\u2019s Congress (APC) has announced that its Members of Parliament will resume participation at the next parliamentary sitting, while all party representatives in local councils are to return to their duties with immediate effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This decision follows the conclusions outlined in a communiqu\u00e9 issued by the International Moral Guarantors after their joint assessment mission in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis decision is made in good faith and in honour of the commitments outlined in the communiqu\u00e9, particularly the provision calling on the APC and its elected representatives to end the boycott and fully engage in governance processes at all levels,\u201d the party stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a press release dated 29th April, the APC called on the Government of Sierra Leone to demonstrate equal commitment by urgently laying the Agreement for National Unity and the Tripartite Committee Report before Parliament. According to the party, this step is essential to ensure transparency, legitimacy, and national ownership of the implementation process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The APC also urged the immediate establishment of a Parliamentary Standing Committee on Electoral Matters, as agreed, to review the electoral cycle, strengthen electoral preparedness, and guide necessary reforms ahead of the 2028 elections, without prejudice to Section 32(11) of the Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The communiqu\u00e9 emphasizes that these measures are not optional but are part of a structured roadmap aimed at restoring public trust, strengthening democratic institutions, and promoting inclusive governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reaffirming its commitment to constructive engagement, accountability, and reform, the APC stressed that cooperation must be reciprocal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe sustainability of this process depends on timely and genuine implementation of all agreed measures,\u201d the party noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
