The Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL), in collaboration with African Organisation of English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E), conducted a Post-Configuration Training for the SierraSeat Audit Management Information System following the completion of the system’s final configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training took place at both the Foreign Affairs Academy Hall and the 11th Floor of the FCC Building from the 3rd \u2013 5th August, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training was held as part of the SierraSeat Implementation Project funded by the World Bank and marked an important milestone in the contractual agreement between the Government of Sierra Leone and AFROSAI-E for the customization and localization of the A-SEAT Audit Management Information System into SierraSeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his keynote address, Deputy Auditor General Mr. Morie Lansana said the training marks a major milestone in the ASSL\u2019s digital transformation journey. He explained that SierraSeat is not just a new software application, but a system that will transform how audits are planned, conducted, supervised, documented, reported, and followed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He thanked AFROSAI-E for its technical support and partnership, and commended the SierraSeat Project Team, ICT Division, Directors, Champions, and staff involved in the pilot phase for their dedication and constructive feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Lansana noted that the training also serves as the final stage of User Acceptance Testing, which will determine whether SierraSeat is ready for full deployment. He urged participants to test the system thoroughly and report any remaining issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that, subject to successful testing and management approval, the ASSL intends to officially declare SierraSeat operational and transition into the production environment during or immediately after the training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Deputy Auditor General emphasized that the success of SierraSeat will depend on the commitment of staff to use the system effectively and in line with ASSL\u2019s audit methodology. He added that the system will improve audit planning, risk assessment, quality assurance, collaboration, and management decision-making, ultimately contributing to stronger transparency, accountability, and good governance in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He concluded by expressing confidence that the successful implementation of SierraSeat will position the ASSL as a leading Supreme Audit Institution in the region in the use of digital audit technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative also represents a significant step in ASSL’s Digitalisation Plan, which aims to modernize audit processes through the adoption of innovative digital technologies, strengthen audit quality, improve operational efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The primary objective of the training was to familiarize users with the final configured version of SierraSeat, validate the customized functionalities, and enhance the capacity of staff to effectively manage the end-to-end audit process using the system. Participants were also introduced to the enhancements which are designed to meet the ASSL’s operational and business requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Twenty-Five participants, including SierraSeat Champions and representatives from various technical divisions and support units, attended the training. Through practical hands-on sessions, participants gained valuable experience using the system’s updated features and workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training strengthened the ASSL’s institutional capacity to utilise SierraSeat, promote standardised and technology-enabled audit practices, and support the successful completion of a key contractual deliverable under the SierraSeat Implementation Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the completion of this phase, ASSL is now better positioned for the transition to the full operational use of SierraSeat, further advancing the implementation of its digitalisation plan and, ultimately contributing to the modernization of public sector auditing in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
