The Sierra Leone High Commission in the United Kingdom, led by His Excellency Dr. Morie Komba Manyeh, joined members of the Limba community, supporters, and well-wishers on the evening of Saturday, August 15, 2026, for the 10th anniversary celebration of Mabohanday UK&I, marking a decade of unity, culture, and community service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mabohanday UK&I 10th Anniversary Dinner & Dance, held at the Selby Centre in North London, brought the community together to celebrate Limba cultural heritage, solidarity, and achievement. Chapter heads representing Mabohanday\u2019s 11 existing chapters also took part, reflecting the organisation\u2019s wider network and shared commitment to unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a packed hall, Dr. Manyeh commended Mabohanday UK&I for organising the event and praised the Limba community for its resilience, peaceful outlook, and commitment to cohesion. He highlighted the strong bonds among Sierra Leoneans of different ethnic backgrounds, pointing to his own close relationship with the Limba community as an example of ties that transcend ethnicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI believe that no man should be adversely judged by the colour of the clothes he wears or the shape of the shoes on his feet,\u201d he said, stressing the importance of Sierra Leoneans working together despite superficial differences. He added: \u201cWe can\u2019t have development without peace, and we can\u2019t have peace without unity,\u201d urging Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to continue promoting cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The evening showcased Limba hospitality and cultural heritage through dance routines and traditional attire, including an appearance by the mystical Matorma masquerade. A highlight of the night was the unveiling of Chief Dino Samura as Mabohanday UK&I\u2019s Tribal Chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mabohanday, a Limba word meaning \u201ccoming together,\u201d places unity and giving at the heart of its work. UK&I Chairman Mr. Lamin Bangura underscored the organisation\u2019s non-political character, detailing its charitable and educational initiatives over the years, including donating books to schools, providing student scholarships, constructing community water wells, and supplying medical materials to hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
High Commissioner Manyeh was joined at the event by Deputy High Commissioner Mrs. Yvonne King Odigboh and Head of Chancery Mrs. Juliana Sia Hawa Fallah. The milestone celebration carried a message beyond the anniversary itself: that Sierra Leone\u2019s diversity remains a source of strength when its people come together in mutual respect to advance peace and unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
