{"id":2255,"date":"2026-08-22T12:31:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T12:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/daybreaknewspapersl.com\/?p=2255"},"modified":"2026-08-22T12:32:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T12:32:23","slug":"moh-produces-local-infection-prevention-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/daybreaknewspapersl.com\/?p=2255","title":{"rendered":"MoH Produces Local Infection Prevention Treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sierra Leone\u2019s Ministry of Health has begun locally producing essential infection prevention supplies as part of efforts to reduce avoidable infections and maternal and child deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative is being implemented under the Ministry\u2019s National Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Programme as part of the ongoing 300 Days of Activism for Triple Zero campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The campaign aims to address maternal deaths, child deaths and the number of zero-dose children across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/daybreaknewspapersl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daybreaknewspapersl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-2.jpeg 500w, https:\/\/daybreaknewspapersl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-2-300x225.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Nanah Fofanah, Program Manager of the National Infection Prevention and Control Programme, said infections remain a significant contributor to maternal and child deaths, particularly when they progress to sepsis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said improving infection prevention and control practices across health facilities is critical to reducing preventable infections and protecting patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ministry said the locally produced supplies include liquid soap, hand sanitiser and liquid detergent, which are intended for use in government hospitals and other health facilities nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liquid soap will support routine hand washing, while hand sanitiser will provide an additional option for healthcare workers and patients to maintain hand hygiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"391\" src=\"https:\/\/daybreaknewspapersl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daybreaknewspapersl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-3.jpeg 500w, https:\/\/daybreaknewspapersl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-3-300x235.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The locally produced liquid detergent will be used to clean healthcare environments, surfaces and medical equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ministry said the production effort is intended to strengthen infection prevention measures while supporting the availability of essential supplies within the public health system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative forms part of broader efforts under the 300 Days of Activism to improve health outcomes for mothers and children and prevent deaths associated with infections and sepsis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sierra Leone\u2019s Ministry of Health has begun locally producing essential infection prevention supplies as part of efforts to reduce avoidable infections and maternal and child deaths.
