The Sierra Leone People\u2019s Party (SLPP) has temporarily suspended the Chairman of Constituency 109, Mr. James Fomba, pending an independent investigation into matters concerning two videos currently circulating on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a letter dated 24th September 2026, the SLPP acknowledged Mr. Fomba\u2019s response to a second invitation from the District Executive to appear before it regarding the issues outlined in previous correspondence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Party noted that Mr. Fomba\u2019s letter referenced 24th September 2028, which it understood to be an error and that the intended date was 24th September 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SLPP also acknowledged his explanation for failing to attend the first meeting scheduled for 23rd September 2026, as well as his statement that he remains willing to appear before the District Executive to respond to and clarify the issues surrounding the two videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Party said Mr. Fomba\u2019s letter did not specify when he would return to Sierra Leone or when he would be available to meet with the District Executive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the SLPP, the absence of a specific date presented a difficulty given the urgency of the matter and the need to address it within a reasonable timeframe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The District Executive, by unanimous agreement, subsequently decided to temporarily step Mr. Fomba aside from his position as Constituency Chairman of Constituency 109, pending an independent investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation will be instituted and overseen by the Regional Executive of the SLPP, Western Region, in accordance with the Party\u2019s structures and procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Party further stated that, during the period of the investigation, members of the Constituency Executive will be considered for nomination to perform the functions of Constituency Chairman on an interim basis, as the Constituency Executive is presently unaware of Mr. Fomba\u2019s whereabouts and availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nomination of an interim Constituency Chairman will be undertaken by the District Chairman of the West Rural District, Mr. Charles Yimbo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SLPP emphasized that the decision is intended to preserve discipline, accountability, and the effective functioning of the Party while the matter is being investigated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Party clarified that the decision does not constitute a final determination on the issues under investigation and that Mr. Fomba will have the opportunity to respond to the matters raised and present his position through the appropriate process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SLPP wished Mr. Fomba well in his current engagements and said it looks forward to his cooperation with the investigative process upon his return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
