According to Ibrahim Sorie Sesay, the National Secretary General of the Citizens Democratic Party, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally remains a member of the CDP, despite ongoing discussions and conflicting statements concerning his current political affiliation.

The latest development has reportedly placed the spotlight on the relationship between the CDP’s National Secretary General and National Chairman, Victor O. King, as questions continue to emerge over the official position of the party regarding Tarawally’s membership.

Sesay is said to have challenged the position attributed to National Chairman Victor O. King concerning Tarawally’s political status, insisting that the former presidential aspirant remains associated with the Citizens Democratic Party.

The issue has generated considerable political interest because Musa Tarawally is a well-known political figure in Sierra Leone and was the CDP’s Presidential aspirant in the 2018 general elections. His political status has therefore continued to attract attention, particularly as the country gradually moves toward the next political cycle.

Conflicting Positions within the Party

The latest claims have further complicated what has already become an increasingly sensitive internal party matter.

While statements attributed to some CDP officials have raised questions about whether Tarawally is still formally recognized as a member of the party, Ibrahim Sorie Sesay’s position appears to point in the opposite direction.

Sesay reportedly maintains that Tarawally remains a member of the CDP and that his membership should not be interpreted otherwise without the appropriate party procedures and official documentation.

The disagreement has consequently sparked calls for greater clarity from the party leadership.

Political observers believe that the CDP may need to clearly establish its official records, membership register and constitutional procedures in order to bring the matter to a definitive conclusion.

Who Speaks for the Party?

One of the major questions emerging from the controversy is whether the position of the National Chairman, the National Secretary General, or a formal resolution of the party’s National Executive Council should be regarded as the final authority on an individual’s membership status.

Party structures generally operate through constitutions, membership records and decisions taken by competent organs. For this reason, the controversy surrounding Tarawally is increasingly being viewed as more than a personal disagreement; it could also test the internal administrative procedures of the Citizens Democratic Party.

The conflicting positions have therefore created an atmosphere of uncertainty among party supporters and political stakeholders who want to know the CDP’s definitive position on Tarawally.

Tarawally’s Political History

Musa Tarawally is not new to Sierra Leone’s national political landscape. His involvement in national politics has made him a recognizable figure, while his previous association with the Citizens Democratic Party has remained an important part of his political history.

His reported political status within the CDP is therefore attracting attention at a time when political parties are positioning themselves for the future.

For many political watchers, the central question is straightforward: Is Musa Tarawally still officially a member of the Citizens Democratic Party, or has his membership been formally terminated in accordance with the party’s constitution?

The answer, they argue, should come from the party’s official records and competent governing organs rather than conflicting public statements.

Calls for Clarity

The latest development involving Ibrahim Sorie Sesay and Victor O. King is likely to keep the debate alive unless the CDP leadership provides a clear and unified explanation.

Supporters and political observers are now calling on the party leadership to make public its official position and, where necessary, provide the relevant documentation governing Tarawally’s membership status.

As the debate continues, Ibrahim Sorie Sesay’s assertion that Musa Tarawally remains a CDP member has added another significant chapter to the growing political controversy.

For now, the issue remains a matter of competing claims within the party, with attention increasingly focused on whether the CDP’s leadership will reach a unified position on the matter.

According to Ibrahim Sorie Sesay, the National Secretary General of the Citizens Democratic Party, Hon.
