Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has expressed confidence that the Sierra Leone People\u2019s Party (SLPP) would secure a landslide victory in the 2028 general elections if the country\u2019s energy sector becomes a central campaign issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during the Government\u2019s weekly press briefing, Bah pointed to what he described as significant investments and ongoing reforms in the energy sector under the administration of President Julius Maada Bio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Minister, the Government has initiated and supported several major energy projects aimed at expanding electricity access, improving power generation, and ensuring a more sustainable energy future for Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf energy becomes the debate for the 2028 elections, the SLPP will win by a landslide,\u201d Bah stated, citing key initiatives such as the proposed US$500 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact and the Nant Energy Project, among other interventions designed to strengthen the country\u2019s energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that the Minister of Energy had outlined a range of ongoing projects that are expected to transform the sector and address longstanding electricity challenges across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bah argued that the Government\u2019s commitment to increasing energy generation and distribution demonstrates its determination to improve living conditions, stimulate economic growth, and support industrial development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The remarks came amid continued public discussions about electricity supply and access across Sierra Leone, with the Government maintaining that current and planned investments will significantly enhance the country\u2019s energy capacity in the years ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
