The Executive Members of the Bike Riders Union (BRU), led by President Ishmael Sandy, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, has honoured the Inspector General of Police for maintaining stability in Sierra Leone at his office at the Senior Police Officers\u2019 Mess in Kingtom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The visit was aimed at expressing appreciation to the IGP for recognising BRU as a key stakeholder in the recently concluded Peace Gala Competition held at the SLFA Academy on June 5 and 6, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during the engagement, President Sandy described the IGP\u2019s decision to include BRU as highly commendable, noting that such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering unity among citizens and breaking down social barriers within communities. He added that although BRU was eliminated in a penalty shoot-out, the organisation remained grateful for the opportunity to participate in what he described as a well-organised and competitive tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Sandy further praised IGP Sellu for his continued commitment to maintaining peace and security across Sierra Leone, stating that his leadership has significantly contributed to national stability and public safety since assuming office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his response, IGP Sellu thanked the BRU delegation for their visit and expression of appreciation. He emphasised that the police serve a broad constituency, including bike riders who form a significant part of the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The IGP explained that initiatives such as the Peace Gala Competition are designed to promote unity, strengthen relationships, reduce tensions, and encourage peaceful coexistence among citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also disclosed that the next edition of the football competition will be hosted in the Eastern Province, providing another platform for communities to interact and build stronger bonds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IGP Sellu reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with all stakeholders, including bike riders, in the collective effort to build a safer and more peaceful Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
