June 24 Polls…Information Minister Boasts:
“We Will Defeat Samura Kamara Hands Down”
During a Voice of America (VOA) interview in recent days, concerning the Mile 38 incident on 2nd April, 2023.
The Minister Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, told VOA that the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Government of President Julius Maada Bio, will not allow anyone to assassinate the Flag Bearer of the All People’s Congress (APC) Dr. Samura Wilson Kamara, because “the SLPP is going to defeat the APC hands down,” and that due to that fact, there is no need for an assassination of any APC flag bearer.
He further stated that this is not the first time President Bio has defeated Dr. Samura. “This is a return match as we will call in in football. To defeat Dr. Samura is an easy ride for President Bio,” the Information Minister added.
He went further to say that Dr. Samura wants to send the people of this country back to 1961. “The people of this country are going to say no, come June 24, 2023. The people of this country are going to re-elect or vote again for President Bio to continue unfinished project he has started,” Minister Swaray maintained.
It could be recalled that following his return to Freetown after visiting New York, USA accompanied by High Court officials to inspect the Sierra Leone Chancery Building in New York, on landing at the new Freetown International Airport, Dr. Samura and his entourage used the Port Loko, Mile 38 axis to reach the city.
He was however stopped at Mile 38 Checkpoint by police who had noticed that the ten vehicles that had been allowed in his convoy for security reasons had grown to more than fifty and police decided to check the identity of the extra people in the extra vehicles before allowing Dr. Samura’s convoy to continue its journey to the city.
This attempt was however seen as hostile by the members on the APC convoy who reacted by attacking security personnel and defying to instructions given by the security personnel. All manner of behavior was exhibited by the APC supporters in the more than fifty vehicles convoy and it took security officers at least two hours before they could calm the situation.
