Kasafoni Under Siege Finance Minister Accused

A wave of panic has swept through the Kasafoni communities following the sudden and heavy deployment of military personnel in the area. Residents, many of whom were caught unawares, expressed fear and uncertainty as convoys of armed soldiers patrolled the streets, leaving an atmosphere of tension and anxiety.

The unusual presence of security forces triggered speculation among locals, with some fearing the development signaled an impending crisis or crackdown. Traders quickly shut down their businesses, while families hurriedly moved indoors to avoid being caught in any potential confrontation.

However, Finance Minister Fantamadi Bangura, who has been at the center of heightened public attention in recent weeks, sought to allay fears. Speaking to journalists, he confirmed that the deployment was not intended to intimidate the community, but rather to provide him with personal security. According to him, recent threats to his safety necessitated the presence of armed protection.

“The soldiers are not here to harass or intimidate anyone,” the Minister assured. “They are here to protect me. I urge the public to remain calm and go about their normal activities without fear.”

Despite the minister’s reassurance, community members remain unsettled. Many argue that such a visible show of force in a peaceful residential area only deepens mistrust and tension between citizens and state authorities. Civil society groups have already begun calling on the government to clarify the reasons behind the military deployment and to ensure that the presence of soldiers does not disrupt civilian life.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes are now on Kasafoni, where residents continue to grapple with the shock of a military presence they had not anticipated.
