Africell’s Win ‘’Kopo’’ Promotion Unveiled
By John Kelly Marah
Africell (SL) has announced a Le500 million grand prize under its Win ’Kopo’ promotion, with two winners each receiving Le250 million, while two additional winners walked away with Le25 million each, highlighting the company’s commitment to transparency, customer empowerment, and meaningful community impact.
The disclosure was made during a media and stakeholders’ engagement held on Wednesday 28 January 2026, at Africell’s Headquarters along Pivot Street, Wilberforce Village, where senior management outlined the nationwide reach and life-changing impact of the promotion.
Speaking at the event, Marketing and Communications Manager, Kamanda Koroma, said Africell’s mission has always been rooted in energy, happiness, and making a positive impact in people’s lives, values that continue to guide the company’s operations across the country.
“For us, it has never just been about telecommunications,” Koroma said. “Our mission is about connecting people, spreading happiness, and positively impacting lives—sometimes even before we realize it ourselves. These values remain at the heart of everything we do.”
He explained that for nearly four years, Africell has consistently rolled out nationwide promotions, moving from region to region and reaching major cities across Sierra Leone. He described 2025 as a particularly significant year, as the company celebrated Africell’s 25th anniversary in Africa, marking over two decades of service, innovation, and connection with African communities.
One of the highlights of the past year was the Jubilee ‘’Choco’’ Promotion, which Koroma described as a life-changing initiative. “Beyond rewards, we changed lives,” he said, citing the successful handover of a completed house to a winner from Kabala, an achievement that brought together people from across the country in shared celebration.
Koroma emphasized that Africell’s promotions are conducted with full transparency and credibility, noting that winners are selected through verified systems and public draws held in the presence of credible institutions, including the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ).
“This process proves that Africell’s promotions are genuine, fair, and impactful,” he added.
Looking ahead, he disclosed that Africell has lined up several promotions and community activations for 2026, including Valentine’s Day promotions, Ramadan initiatives, and other engagements that reflect Sierra Leone’s culture of religious tolerance, unity, and inclusiveness.
Highlighting the scale of Africell’s impact, Koroma revealed that: 452 customers win daily prizes, totaling nearly Le150 million every day; weekly prizes exceed Le2.5 million, amounting to over Le70 million and monthly prizes reach about Le200 million
Two grand prize winners receive Le250 million each, totaling Le500 million
Two additional winners receive Le25 million each
Twelve million-Leone prizes and regular data rewards are also awarded
“All winners are selected through verified systems—numbers are called, authenticated, and confirmed—ensuring fairness and trust,” he stressed.
Koroma further noted that giving back is not a slogan at Africell but a core cultural value, extending beyond customers to staff, families, and communities. “Our relationship with consumers goes beyond selling services—we aim to uplift lives,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Head of Events and Corporate Social Responsibility at Africell, Nancy Joseph Toure, said she believes true success is measured by the impact made in people’s lives, a principle that continues to guide the company’s vision.
“I have been thinking about Africell since 2005 up to today,” she said. “If you are not part of this network, you may not fully understand our culture of giving back. For us, it has always been about making people smile and changing lives.”
Nancy described the current phase as a turning point for the company, acknowledging subscribers as the backbone of Africell’s success. “Without our customers, Africell would not exist. There is simply nothing we can do without your support,” she said.
She reaffirmed Africell’s commitment to providing quality and affordable services, while expanding network coverage to local and rural communities, ensuring that even the smallest villages can make calls and access the internet.
“No one should be left behind,” she emphasized.
Nancy also encouraged Sierra Leoneans to participate in Africell’s Win ‘’Kopo’’ initiative by dialing *4888#, describing it as a platform that combines rewards with learning. Participants answer daily questions, helping to refresh knowledge, build confidence, and bridge generational gaps.
“Learning never stops, and no effort is ever wasted,” she said. “Through Win ‘Kopo’, young and old alike benefit—not just by winning, but by growing.”
She concluded by urging subscribers to remain connected and continue being part of the Africell family, assuring that Africell will keep improving communication services and strengthening its commitment to community development.
“As it is often said, the proof of the pudding is in the eating,” she added. “Try, learn, and grow—because even in failure, there is always a lesson.”
