Leone Rock Metal Group has reaffirmed its commitment to civic engagement and national development through active participation in the Civic Day Series held simultaneously in and around Magburaka on October 27 and 28, 2025.

Speaking at the event, Mamoud Melvin Jah, a representative of Leone Rock Metal, emphasized the company’s dedication to fostering civic responsibility and community partnership in its areas of operation.

Jah noted that civic education is vital for strengthening collaboration between mining companies and host communities, ensuring transparency, accountability, and shared growth.

“Leone Rock Metal believes that true progress begins with informed citizens. Through forums like the Civic Day Series, we can promote mutual understanding and drive sustainable development together,” Jah said.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, brought together local authorities, students, and civil society organizations to discuss good governance, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment.

Jah highlighted Leone Rock’s ongoing investments in human capital and social responsibility, revealing that of the 4,864 employees at the Tonkolili mines, 3,011 are residents of Tonkolili District. The company has certified 2,456 workers to operate processing plants and trained 364 women in firefighting and emergency response — a move he said reflects Leone Rock’s gender-inclusive approach to workforce development.

He also reminded attendees of the company’s contribution of over NLe62 million in Community Development Agreement (CDA) payouts made in April 2025 to primary mining communities, aimed at improving local infrastructure, education, and health services.

Participants in the Moyamba and Magburaka civic sessions commended Leone Rock Metal for its active engagement and called on other private sector players to emulate its example in promoting civic consciousness and community welfare.

The Civic Day Series continues to serve as a platform for dialogue between citizens, corporate actors, and government agencies, reinforcing the shared goal of national progress through civic responsibility.
