The newly transferred Local Unit Commander of Police in Kenema, Bob Musa N. Mansaray has on Tuesday 16th September 2025 at the Nongowa Chiefdom Headquarters Hangha Road stressed the vital role of traditional leaders in the fight against crime.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement with Paramount Chiefs, Chiefdom Speakers, town, section, and area chiefs, LUC Mansaray said the gathering was to collectively find solutions to the increasing security challenges facing the district.
He reminded the chiefs that crime works in a triangular form—where an offender needs the opportunity, a victim, and the act itself. Once the opportunity is created within a community, he explained, criminals are empowered to strike, making innocent people victims.
LUC Mansaray, therefore, called on chiefs not to give room for wrongdoers to operate within their communities. He emphasized that offenders do not come from heaven or hell but live among the people and that community vigilance is key to cutting off the space criminals use to thrive.
He concluded by assuring the chiefs of continued partnership between the police and traditional authorities in maintaining law and order across Kenema District.
