- Charles Margai Affirms
During the ‘Gud Morning Salone’ program aired on Radio Democracy on 2nd June, 2023, Charles Francis Margai Esq. the PMDC Presidential Candidate, said that the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed konneh, is not qualified for the position, adding that he advised the President on the appointment of the ECSL Commissioner that the man should not be given that appointment, because he was still receiving salary from the Consolidated Fund, and according to the Constitution and other legal instruments, he should resign 12 months before his appointment.
Though Margai maintained that he does not agree with that Constitutional provision, but that it is the law and should be complied with, until amended, stressing that the country is governed by the Constitution and all provisions in the said document should be respected.
Charles Margai disclosed that according to the alliance entered into with the APC, his party and other six parties have decided to throw their weight behind the APC in the event of run-off between it and the SLPP, and should the situation be a run-off between his party and the SLPP, the APC also will throw their support behind him, but in the event the run-off is between the APC and the PMDC, there will be no run-off, but they will go into a power-sharing arrangement.
