The Minister of Health Dr. Augustine Demby in addressing a press briefing said that the Ministry of Health is to employ three thousand workers and that unlike before those who meet the academic criteria will be issued with a pin code to financially boost their performance as staff of the Health Ministry. He informed that anyone who could not meet the criteria will not be eligible to employment despite the fact that he has served as volunteer over the years.
Dr. Demby’s statement has sparked dismay amongst thousands of voluntary health workers who have served the Health Ministry over the years. They said they have served the Ministry with the expectations that they would be issued with pin-codes from they experiences they have acquired over the years as voluntary staff. They said they thought they who have served for a number of years would have been given concessions to get pin codes alongside the new employees.
When asked by a reporter of this medium if this is not a violation worth taking the government to court Dr. Demby responded that he was not comfortable with that question.
