New Speaker for Saradu Chiefdom.

Kulor Saradu Chiefdom in Sierra Leone’s Falaba District has ushered in a new phase of local governance with the appointment of Alhaji Mohamed Lamin Turay as Chiefdom Speaker, a move widely welcomed by community leaders and residents.

The announcement was delivered by Paramount Chief Manty F. Musa Koroma the 4th during a packed ceremony on Nov. 15, whe0re attendees described the moment as pivotal for the chiefdom’s political and social direction.

The event blended tradition and modern expectations, drawing senior local authorities and political figures, including Sierra Leone People’s Party National Publicity Secretary Moses Mambu, who signaled plans to build an SLPP office in Kulor Saradu  ahead of the 2028 elections. He said the initiative reflects the party’s intent to deepen its visibility and engagement in the region. Security upgrades also featured prominently. Chief Superintendent of Police Javandi said the Sierra Leone Police will establish a new post in Kulor Saradu  to boost law enforcement capacity, improve community safety and cut response times.

Turay’s appointment received broad support from residents, who praised his integrity, long record of service and reputation for sound judgment. As Speaker, he is expected to work closely with Paramount Chief Koroma to maintain stability, drive development projects and improve the welfare of the chiefdom’s population. Community members voiced optimism that the partnership between the Paramount Chief and the new Speaker will enhance unity and accelerate local progress. With the transition now formalized, the chiefdom enters a period residents hope will deliver stronger governance, deeper collaboration and renewed pride in Kulor Saradu’s cultural legacy.
